Candle Care

At Honey, Glow Candles, we believe that caring for your candles is just as important as choosing the perfect scent. Proper candle care helps your candle burn cleaner, last longer, and fill your space with its full aromatic potential. Below are simple yet essential tips to ensure you get the most from every glow.

1. Trim the Wick

Before lighting, always trim the wick to ¼ inch. This prevents soot, promotes a steady flame, and helps avoid mushrooming (when the wick forms a carbon buildup). A trimmed wick means a cleaner, more even burn.

Tip: Use wick trimmers or scissors, and never trim a hot wick.

2. Let the Wax Pool

Allow your candle to burn long enough for the entire top layer of wax to melt edge to edge—this is called a full melt pool. This step prevents tunneling and helps your candle burn evenly every time.

For best results, burn your candle for 2–4 hours at a time.

3. Avoid Drafts

Place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from drafts, fans, or vents. Air movement can cause uneven burning, excess smoke, or flickering flames.

4. Burn Safely

Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep candles away from pets, children, and anything flammable. Always extinguish before leaving the room or going to sleep.

5. Extinguish with Care

To preserve the fragrance and reduce smoke, use a snuffer or gently dip the wick into the melted wax using a wick dipper, then straighten it.

Blowing out candles can cause wax splatter or create smoke that interrupts the fragrance.

6. Reuse or Recycle

When ½ inch of wax remains, it’s time to retire your candle. Clean out your jar and reuse it for storage, plants, or décor—or recycle it responsibly. Our amber and ivory vessels are beautiful long after the burn.

7. Store Thoughtfully

Keep your candles out of direct sunlight and away from heat when not in use. Store with the lid on (if included) to preserve the fragrance and protect the wax.tomers to your store.
